Call to Caucus 

 

The Staunton Democratic Committee (SDC) will hold an unassembled caucus on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM at the SDC Headquarters at 240 N Central Ave. Suite 1, Staunton Va, 24401 (a virtual voting option will also be available).

What: 

• Staunton Democrats shall elect 6 Delegates and 1 Alternate to attend the VA-6 District Convention on Saturday, May 18, 2024 and to attend the Virginia Democratic State Convention on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Why:  

• The elected Delegates will attend the VA-6 and State Conventions to further elect national Delegates who will attend the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

• SDC Headquarters, 240 N Central Ave, Suite 1, Staunton, VA 24401

• Or virtual voting via a Google Meet session online

When: 

• April 22, 2024.  Registration and voting begins at 7:30 PM.

• Registration and voting ends at 9:30 PM.  If you are in line or have been admitted to a Google Meet session by 9:30 PM then you will be allowed to register and vote.

Who:  

• Every Democrat who is a registered voter in the City of Staunton is urged to register and vote. Each participant must sign a written declaration that he or she:

  • Is a Democrat and not a member of any other political party; 

  • Does not intend to support any candidate who is opposed to a Democratic nominee in this General Election; 

  • Has not participated in and will not participate in the nominating process of any other party for the positions listed above; and

  • Is registered to vote in the City of Staunton.

How:  

• Caucus participants can come to the SDC Headquarters to register/vote or virtually via Google Meet (it is easy and similar to Zoom).

• Once you have voted then you can leave and enjoy the rest of your evening !

What You Need To Do:  

• If you want to become a Delegate: 

  • ​Please fill out the online Delegate Candidate Filing Form by 5:00 PM on April 15, 2024.

  • Candidate names will appear on the ballot in the order of their filing.

 

• If you want to register and vote for Delegates:

  • ​In Person - Come to the SDC Headquarters between 7:30 - 9:30 PM on April 22, 2024 to vote in person in this caucus.  The address is 240 N Central Ave, Suite 1, Staunton, VA 24401 (just a few doors away from Chicano Boy restaurant).

  • Online - Join our Google Meet session (no special downloads or apps are needed) by clicking on this link.  Then click the “Ask to join” button.  You will be admitted to the session and a Caucus Official will guide you through the voting process.
